Cliff,

Is there a design guide for steel plates cast into concrete walls with shear studs on the rear and a fin plate welded to the front face to receive a steel beam?

I am not aware of any formal Standard covering the design of these items. If you want to do your own design, I would suggest referring to 'Anchorage in Concrete Construction' by Rolf Eligehausen of Stuttgart University (published by Ernst & Sohn). This contains design methods for a multitude of cast-in items, including headed studs.

Due to restrictions on the use of welding on some sites, it is often easier to use a bracket fabricated from cast-in channels as shown. These give good site tolerance as well as significant capacities of over 200 kN in shear.
